Mountain Standard

A Full Migration for Vail’s Wood-Fired Icon
Mountain Standard is Sweet Basils wood-fired sister restaurant, sharing the same address on Vails Gore Creek Drive. Its site needed a rescue: a full migration off an aging platform, real mobile usability, and a faster path from hungry visitor to booked table.

Overview

The rebuild brought a richer visual language, a custom CMS for menus and events, an integrated gift card platform, and ADA-accessible markup. Staff update everything themselves.
The audit surfaced navigation problems and a site that told no story about the food. Interviews with the team shaped a new architecture built around the guest’s actual path: discover, browse the menu, book.

The Challenge

The old site was dated, hard to use on a phone, and every routine content change needed a developer. Menus lagged reality, and marketing moved at someone else’s pace.

The new site had to look worthy of the room, load fast, sell gift cards, and be updatable by whoever closes that night, without a developer on call.

The Solution

Bold photography, clear calls to action, mobile-first navigation. A custom CMS handles menus, the wine list, and events, so updates happen in-house the moment something changes.

A digital gift card platform opened a direct sales channel. The wine list got a proper display. Small animations add personality without slowing anything down.

Final thoughts

Mountain Standard’s site now earns its address. The team runs content in-house, gift cards sell online, and more visits end in reservations. Years later they’re still a client, and the site keeps evolving with the restaurant.
